Sculpture: Imaginary Worlds
Saturdays, 10:30 am–12:30 pm

Dream up fantastical places in this sculpture class inspired by the work of Ebony G. Patterson. Learn to construct new worlds out of fabric, cardboard, paint, glitter, and rhinestones. Then use clay to build imaginative figures to live inside your artistic environments.

Painting: Make It Big
Sundays, 10:30 am–12:30 pm

Make new friends and learn new skills in this painting class all about large-scale artworks. Discover how to handle a brush like a pro, and create art using watercolor and acrylic paints. Be inspired by the monumental works of Meleko Mokgosi and Kehinde Wiley. The only thing greater than the paintings will be your imagination as you put big ideas on big canvases.

Ages 8–10

Printmaking: Carve, Paint, Copy
Saturdays, 10:30 am–12:30 pm

What if you could make infinite copies of your art? From fine art woodblock prints to DIY copy machine zines, see how artists multiply their creative projects. Build traditional printmaking skills with ink and brayers to create art with a message, then use technology to share your work with friends and family.

Sculpture: Clay Creatures
Sundays, 10:30 am–12:30 pm

Learn new skills in 3D art in this class all about clay. Create masterful works using pinch, slab, and coil techniques while also learning about character design. Dream up monsters, mythical creatures, and otherworldly beings. Finish the semester by painting, naming, and sharing your creations.

Ages 11–13

Photography and Mixed Media: Open Book
Saturdays, 1:30–3:30 pm

Explore how to tell stories through photography and collage. Create captivating images with a camera, and find out how to transform them with paint and markers. Discover the fun of bookmaking with techniques such as binding, layering, and patterning. Gather inspiration from artworks in our galleries, and design a photo-collage book that explores identity and community.

Painting: Portfolio Development
Sundays, 1:30–3:30 pm

Gain all the skills necessary for a strong art high school application—or simply learn for the love of art! This painting class will cover art fundamentals for budding young artists, whatever your goals may be. Master techniques in observational painting, and then unleash your creativity by making art from your imagination. Inspired by Mickalene Thomas, add a special touch of enamel and rhinestones to make your portfolio stand out.
