"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
One limestone slab with sunk relief representation of a female facing right. She wears an elaborate wig, layered at sides and tapering up at the back of the head. A large disk earring is partly covered by the wig. A wide band encircles the forehead. She carries a formal bouquet which appears behind her head.
Condition: Sides cut anciently, back cut smooth modernly. Face intact with small chip on earring and brow. Modern abrasions on small area of wig and upper left area of surface. Several other ancient blemishes over surface. One break running diagonally from above and behind head of female to area below chin.
