Arita Blue and White Charger

Asian Art

Although made in Japan for export to Europe, the design of this charger imitates Chinese Kraak porcelain. This Japanese emulation of a Chinese ware that catered to European tastes illustrates the cross-cultural complexity of the global ceramic trade
at the time.
