"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Large single gold earring. Loop a strand of closely braided gold wires tapering at one end to single gold wire ending in open hook. At other end is large hollow bull’s head with details in both repousse and incised. At base of head are two rows of granulated work; Below this is a plain curved section suggesting a large bead. After this, covering the union of loop to head, is cone-shaped ornament with granulated work. Eyes inlaid and partially preserved. Ring on under side of head.
Condition: Excellent. Eyes have disintegrated and it is impossible by visual examination to determine their substance. The right eye is almost entirely gone. Surface of gold stained, wire loops join head, several small breaks. Workmanship excellent.
