INSCRIPTIONS Inscribed front: "Oh let me love / And loving you / I will be constant / Kind and true"; inside of card with handwritten inscriptions: on small sheet affixed to verso, "From a friend & Lover"; and verse on recto: "Sweet maid the fairest of the fair / Attentive listen to my prayer / The dart of love throbs in my breast / 'Tis thee alone can give me rest / Your hand and heart dear girl I crave / Nothing to divide us but the grave / Oh! name the day when I shall call you mine / When we to Church shall haste away / My charming Valentine / Your own true [excised] / [signature excised]"
