"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Standing bronze statuette of the Child Horus, wearing crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, sidelocked on right side of head. Right hand held to mouth. Oblong, hollow base inscribed in front. Statuette cast solid.
Inscription: "Horus the Child, the great god who is in Athribis." An unusually satisfactory piece of work.
Condition: Bronze cleaned probably by Arabs, many years ago. Much corrosion remains. Several spots of bronze disease on base and head. Must be treated. Much of the present corrosion can be removed and the details made clearer. Good routine work. Back of base broken showing core.
