"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Pewter porringer; round bowl rises from flat bottom to slightly flaring sides and ends in narrow, flared lip. Attached openwork handle (soldered to side) consists of chevron shape flanked on each side by a large fish with mouth at bottom of handle, body curving outward along side, and a looped tail near top; ring at apex of handle between fish tails; small flowers and other decorative shapes around chevron.
CONDITION: Good; edge of bowl slightly misshapen; allover light scratches and pitting; larger pit marks inside bowl; crack in edge of bowl near handle; patch of discolored spots near handle on inside of bowl; many small dents, especially around bottom. There appears to be a repair on outside of bowl near bottom.
