"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Stoneware pitcher, vitreous glaze, light green/gray ground with blue glaze accents. From narrow round base, pitcher rises and flares out to midpoint, tapers slightly at collar, then rises to tall, wide cylindrical neck and wide, oval-shaped opening with scalloped edge (edge is higher on spout side). Handle with molded decorations is attached to side opposite spout at top edge and collar. Lower section of body is sectioned, with a molded stylized leaf decoration in each section. Collar decorated with molded band of leaves and berries (or flowers). The neck has a large medallion centered on each side between handle and spout, and set against a pitted background; each medallion contains two putti (vary in pose and accoutrements); flowers around frame of medallions. All molded decorations, including handle, are accented with blue glaze.
CONDITION: Good; a few small chips in glaze around body.
