Catalogue Description:
Plant Stand: Wicker and wood. Dark brown stain. Oval plank top surrounded by openwork woven wicker that extends and flares below and rises, flares and turns downward above. Rough hewn solid wood cylindrical pedestal supported on x-shaped stretchers. From stretcher ends clusters of three bent twigs rise and curve inward to pedestal secured by circular wood ring then flare out at straight angle to support plank top. Woven braids scroll at top of stretchers and at attachment to pedestal. Woven braids outline each stretcher and form open work knots that trail up sides of pedestal. CONDITION - Good condition. Numerous breaks and minor losses to open work wicker especially around top. Joints of three boards of plank top separated. One of the four large scrolls to pedestal lacking. Underside shows areas of red stain that is also visible elsewhere on object below dark brown stain.
